UKRAINE AT A CROSSROADS--WILL FALSE ACCUSATIONS END US HELP?

Religious freedom has taken a surprisingly central role in arguments about Western funding for Ukraine's self defense. Ukraine has a wonderful track record on religious freedom, despite 10 years of war. The Russian Orthodox Church--Moscow Patriarchate openly supports the war on Ukraine. Ukraine is considering limits on the ROC-MP's Ukrainian subsidiary, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church--Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP). Ukrainians believe it is undermining its war of survival. A proposed law is designed to force it to cut ties with Moscow or shut down some of its legal entities. The law doesn't affect some 25,000 other Ukrainian religious organizations.

Lobbyists for the UOC-MP hysterically claim Ukraine is violating its rights and those of members of its congregations. Indeed, they claim Ukraine has no religious freedom and doesn't deserve Western financial or military support.

Law and Liberty Trust is challenging those claims. We now are under attack by these lobbyists. Here we share our analysis and expert conclusions based on 34 years of experience.
